Lol 8 hours a day is a full time job!

It depends on where you are and where you want to go on your poker journey. I believe if you wanf to improve then you don't step away.

You change your playing time to more study time or you switch games because many poker variants still share similar ideas/strategies/skills you can use in either game your playing.

Or you find ways to stay involved by posting hands on forums making you think about games with less time spent studying or playing but youre still involved some how.

Everyone has their own approach to planning the schedule of play and rest. I think a pretty good option is 2 days of playing and one day of rest. Although, to be honest, I'm ready to play even 7 days a week because for me poker is the entertainment that is always relevant.
