I've been playing for over sixty years since I was ten or eleven. Up until seven years ago I don't think that it really taught me much, but I did get to spend a lot of happy hours with my parents, co-workers, and friends.
In early October 2018 I was making a major change in my life, and at the same time I began playing the 9am Sunday morning tournaments at Foxwoods in Ledyard, CT. I learned that there are a lot nice people everywhere who will welcome others who share their interests. I played those tourneys until March of 2020 when Covid raised it's ugly head and put an end to poker.
Then in the late fall of that year I learned from someone here on Cards Chat that there were poker rooms in New Hampshire. In early December I played my first tournament at the Filotimo casino in Manchester, NH. It taught me that there were the same kind of nice people in northern New England as there were in the southern parts.
