Many players have a favorite hand and even the pros often have a favorite/signature hand for one memorable reason or another. Just curious if anyone can contribute so I can get a list of some hands from some well known poker players. (Feel free to share your own favorites too)
Here are some I got so far:
Phil Hellmuth: Favorite Hand: "two black nines" because 9s9c is what he won the 1989 wsop Main Event with.
Alec Torelli: Favorite Hand: "Jack-Ten (especially diamonds)" because he used to win a lot of pots with this hand "when he shouldn't" during his small homegames long before he turned professional in poker.
Doyle Brunson: Favorite Hand: T2 probably because he won two WSOP Main Events with this hand! (Ts2s in 1976 and Ts2h in 1977) Nowadays this "Doyle Hand" has a lot of bluff appeal like 72o just because it is an objectively trash hand with a history. Playing this is basically saying: "Look, I can bluff and win with anything!"
Chris Moneymaker: Favorite Hand: Not 100% about this one, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was AQ because that was what he held just outside of the Final Table against Phil Ivey's pocket 9 hand. Moneymaker got a lucky suckout on the River and that hand propelled him to winning the famous 2003 WSOP Main Event.
Anyone have a list of some other famous players and hands they love?
