Most poker players are Christians. Today the Pope died. So I guess many Catholics won’t play exactly this day.

Since I don't believe in god that's no issue for me .
I think there is a passage somewhere in the bible which says you shouldn't gamble.

Technically poker isn't gambling so I think you're good.

It depends how deep you want to go into it and your own personal beliefs I think.

It's a strategy game played for money. If it's an interest God gave you and you play responsibly I don't see too much harm.

And I don't really believe the "You're doing others harm when they not be able to control their vices" argument. It's not my responsibility to do so. The major sports leagues and teams sold out to sportsbooks and online casinos, When you start to see the millionaire role model athletes take pay cuts so they don't have to have these companies on their chest I'll consider dropping my hobby, but until then I have a cool hobby that pays cash and over the long run rewards hard work.

Most other people's hobbies involve them paying money to a company owned by Blackrock...

Funding evil is still evil.

Yes brother, humans are deeply flawed creatures.

Also anyone can claim to be a member of any religion, there isn't some divine right of passage you must achieve before your vocal chords grant you the ability to call yourself a Christian. This is why the actions of one person or organisation isn't reflective of the entire religion.

Also it's human nature to believe in something, in the absence of religion it's often the state.

Buy Canadian, Elbows up and all that.

The question in my mind is how is playing poker as an occupation any different from any other occupation? It's not. You study, you train, you practice, you earn, you pay taxes. It's identical to being a brain surgeon or a lawyer or an electrician.

I know I wrestled with no matter what job or profession I chose, I wrestled with am I stealing from my fellow man. And when working for a corporation, am I helping corporations steal from my fellow man even faster.

Most corporations provide useful services and/or products. You'd be hard pressed to find many that exist solely to steal from people.

Apparently, any gambling according to Christian beliefs is not a good thing. But I think if you are a good person and ready to help others, it's not so bad
