Hey guys just want your thoughts on this: this about his 0 to 10,000 run

He never bought into a cash game or a Sit & Go for more than 5 percent of his total bankroll; the only exception was at the lowest limits: he was allowed to buy into any game with a buy-in of $2.50 or less
He didn’t buy into any multi-table tournaments for more than 2 percent of his total bankroll; the only exception was $1 MTTs
If at any time during a No-Limit or Pot-Limit cash-game session the money on the table represented more than 10 percent of his total bankroll, he had to leave the game when the blinds reached him

i tried it but could never get a good cash in a mtt to break out of my 50 dollar bankroll

the 2 dollar sit n gos kept me even

eventually i got bored and played more expensive things and omaha cash games

i eventually lost it all from a string of bad beats

just seems like at the lower limits it was based on all luck every time i was close to a cash in a mtt my kk or aa would get cracked

Its a sound strategy. I turned 25$ on party poker into 1000+ once. When you only have 25 you have to break the rules a little bit tho. My problem is I can't play once I am up a good bit. I just go a bit crazy.

lol, that bit was hilarious..

Starting with a $50 bankroll put you way ahead of the game. I'm not sure but I think Jesus was grinding the freerolls and 1-2 cent games for months before he got a decent BR from a $1 MTT. After that, he got there relatively quick.

Takes a lot of discipline.. I read it took him a month to win his first dollar in a freeroll. If it's hard for him, then it's sure as hell hard for us rookies to do that. He's one of my favourate players.

If your going to follow his steps to win what he won. You have to follow his steps. It's just that simple. Yes, you need discipline. However, if you want to succeed you must have it.

One thing people fail to notice when learning about Ferguson's challenge is that bankroll management is only one part of the story. The other is that you need to be a winning player. No amount of bankroll management will ever get you $10000 if you can't beat the limits you play.

Spot on!!

Bad bankroll management is only turning good players into bad ones and bad players into horrible ones.

I also tend to believe that bankroll management is particularly important when you have a large bankroll. If your bankroll in $2, I don't think bankroll management is that important. You can go broke... you're not gonna be broke yourself!

I also find a bit strange to stick to a fixed percentage of your bankroll when you play MMTs or satellites. Instead you should try to work out the likelyhood of winning a certain tourney or satellite. Winning a 50 player satellite with 20 seats is not the same as winning a 200 players satellite with 5 seats up for grabs.

I started with $0 and now have over $1000.
So it does work.
The good thing about it is becos of the rules you move up the skill level slowly learning as you go.
You dont have to be a good player to started with.
It does take time.
Ive made some changes to the CF way of doing it.
It is mostly the same.
But one thing i did is if i got a big win , i only put part of that win to bankroll/and the rest to whatever i wanted.

HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT TOO

It works

I had started out with $0 and played my freechips. Used CF's Strategy on my playchips and watched my play chips grow. For every $1M in play chips I earned, I would allow myself to enter into Full Tilts 500k/$40 freeroll in where approximately 40-60 players enter and it pays 18 places for $2. I cashed in a few of these (even took 1st once for $5). I was on my way. I continued to play at the ring games and seen my bankroll grow to about $200. I took my bankroll to a bigger table early (against CF's Strategy) and remained up and down. Ran into a bad streak of cards. It wasnt bad playing, It was unlucky cards. (ie set vs. str8 or 2pr outkicked) Anyway, feel if I had stuck with CF's Strategy, feel I would be in a better position now. It definetly takes Discipline. With $150 BR, not easy to watch a $2 win after a 4 hour session, its a small percentage that makes you want the bigger tables. Shame on ME. Take your small wins and be grateful they werent small losses. For Heavens sake... MAINTAIN DISCIPLINE!!!

i always get sucked out on in the sit-n-gos like the other day i won a little in a freeroll and when it was over i went straight to a $1.25 sit-n-go and was playing pretty good and in 2nd with 6 to go (by the way it was a 9 man) the guy right after me started doing that all in thing with nuttin then everyone would fold and he would show something like 8 2 off or something dumb like that
then i get pocket jacks and just call the blinds and you know it he went all in so i called the guy turns over 6 spades and 8 hearts so i'm feeling good the flop was 3 spades the turn was a heart and the river you know was a dang spade and i had no spades
well that put me down to like 120 chips and last place, i waited on decent hand and played k j off all in, i didnt hit a thing and got put out with small pair
