I am the best player!!I think there is a consensus that the US has the best poker players. Mainly because so many play poker. Apart from the US which country do you think foster the best players?
Corny question…I am the best player!!
What do you mean by that THE BEST - those who lose and give money to others, or those who win and take money away from others!
Have you seen the money list of the most winning players? Try The Hendon Mob😊Hi
There are strong players in different countries, but I don't think the US is among the top 3. In my opinion, the best players are from Canada, Brazil, and probably Argentina.
But formulate your question because BEST is a very broad conceptCorny question…
It may come as a surprise to you, but here is the gist of it: The best players are either:But formulate your question because BEST is a very broad concept
for example, who is the best at robbing others, but who is the best at helping others...
it already sounds betterIt may come as a surprise to you, but here is the gist of it: The best players are either:
1. The ones with most WSOP titles
2. The ones who have accumulating most $ won.
I go by the latter.
You took the words right out of my mouth. Before the exclusion of Americans online, most of the worst players were from US. Some of them played like it was a cordial homegame and they got slaughtered. I would - with some national bias - ad Danes to the tough Scandinavians. Alongside the Dutch Scandinavia is the place, outside the Enlish spoken world, where the population master the language best. Since most pokerbooks are in American - and rarely translated - this has given us an edge. Being a nerd I read the better part of 50 books before playing around 2004. With all due respect 95% from countries like Italy, france, Spain, Poland etc. simply can’t talk or read English.Agree the consensus is the US but ONLY because of sheer numbers. On average thou I don't fear them when I sit down anymore then I do players from most countries.
Overall I have no idea but I do know what players and where they come from that scare me the most to see at the table when I sit down. US players don't rank. In fact one could make argument that overall the US are also the softest players. I know it sure was a joy having them at the table pre-poker black Friday. Winning was much easier with US players at the table.
Anyway when it comes to sitting at the table and who scares me the most when it comes players and the country they come from. Overall Finland, Sweden and Norway players scare me the most in the moment at the table.
Cheers!!!

Thank you for this very insightfull reflections. Some of them I have considered, others not. The gist of it is that the issue is quite complex. I find it particalary interesting to consider your suggestion that the best player(s) perhaps not is at the Nosebleed levels that demand very big bankrolls. Not unlikely I think. This is one that we really cant determine or answer easily. As I read the above post it interesting peoples thought about the players. The biggest problem we really need to remember is since country have and laws or black Friday for us, we really don't have the opportunity to really see players as much as we really would need to made a determination on what we see. Are the players from places that I like to see? of course but that does not mean i think of them all as push overs.
So how do we decide. Cash winning? This is not what i would you for the best players of a year. Lets take the current number one and his 5 million+ win that moved him 15th or so. Take away 3rd places 1 win and he is not even in the top 100 now. Ok lets look at all time. There are 2 issues I see, Eric Seidel is 11th all time. Pretty good and nobody would say a easy mark but he has been playing for nearly 40 years. Number 1 is Bryn Kenney. Heck look at any of the top 3. 73 to 60.8 million won. Look at what they play. Triton and high rollers. This is not belittling there skill but how can we define moneys won when they are playing stakes 99.999% cant afford them. Heck, to be fair the best poker player in the world can be make 7 or 800K a year and nobody would know who he is that way.
The GPI is not so bad. I also has its faults, Oddly you are not seeing so many of the big name near the top of the list. SO why is that? Maybe they are not play as much and only big buy in events. They may score alot of point in them but limited i amount of games. Again this is not really going to help us. Did find one interesting think though. 29th in the world is Eric Seidel. If you look at the games he plays there are no cashes higher than 10k. Again this shows the issue with money used.
So where do i think the best players are from. Planet earth. There are great players from all countries. who has the best, I don't think we honest can say who that would be.
Viking Genes for the Win.Not just in poker pretty much a right a crossed the board in most things they compete in.
I think in Ukraine. In CardsChat tournaments I've seen many times final tables where the majority of players were from Ukraine. Even once I saw the whole final table made up of 8 Ukrainians and 1 Belarusian. It was in the fall in one of CardsChat freerolls on 888. Well, personally it's more difficult for me to play against Ukrainians. And in the second and third place are definitely players from Brazil and Canada.I think there is a consensus that the US has the best poker players. Mainly because so many play poker. 😂There are also tons of elite players from DR Congo, Uganda, Rwanda, Rhodesia, Yemen, Bangladesh, Madagascar, Liberia, Malawi, Niger, Mozambique, Burundi, Sierra Leone, Chad, Togo, Leshoto, Papua New Guinea, Gambia, Tanzania, Cameroon, Angola, Tonga, Djibouti, Myanmar, Uzbekistan, Namibia and Eswatini. But 81% of the greatest players come from Mongolia. A study from The Vatican State concludes that the huge success of Mongolian high stakers is due to them having Djengis Khan blood in their veins.Somalia, North Korea, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe have long been famous for their poker players. They are so skilful, so agile, that we all don't even notice where they play or how they play.
