Molly's game was a surprisingly decent movie. I know it's not a poker movie, but I have always loved 21

There are several popular poker movies and series that have gained acclaim among poker enthusiasts and moviegoers. Here are some of the best-known ones:

  1. Rounders (1998): Rounders is often regarded as one of the best poker movies of all time. It follows the story of a talented poker player (played by Matt Damon) as he navigates the underground poker scene and strives to pay off his debts. The film showcases the intensity and strategic elements of poker.
  2. Molly's Game (2017): Molly's Game is based on the true story of Molly Bloom, who ran high-stakes underground poker games for celebrities and wealthy individuals. The movie, directed by Aaron Sorkin, offers a gripping narrative and insight into the world of high-stakes poker.
  3. High Roller: The Stu Ungar Story (2003): This biographical drama portrays the life of Stu Ungar, one of the greatest poker players in history. It delves into his rise to fame, struggles with addiction, and his exceptional skills at the poker table.
  4. The Cincinnati Kid (1965): Set in the world of high-stakes poker, The Cincinnati Kid features Steve McQueen as a young poker player aiming to take down the legendary poker champion, "The Man" (played by Edward G. Robinson). The film offers an intriguing storyline and intense poker showdowns.
  5. KidPoker (2015): KidPoker is a documentary that follows the life and career of professional poker player Daniel Negreanu. It provides an intimate look at his journey from his early beginnings to becoming one of the most successful and recognizable players in the poker world.
  6. World Series of Poker (WSOP) Coverage: For a more authentic poker experience, you can watch televised coverage of the World Series of Poker (WSOP), which showcases the biggest and most prestigious poker tournament series in the world. Many episodes and highlights are available, allowing you to witness the excitement and drama of live poker competition.
These are just a few examples, and there are other poker movies and series available that may also be of interest. Whether you prefer fictional narratives, biographical stories, or documentaries, these films and shows can provide entertainment and a glimpse into the world of poker.

Im not that poker movies fan, but I liked casino royale, since it teaches you the basics of poker, the only think I didnt like was the ending of the tourney, since 007 won by pure luck with a really bad hand

The Grand. Funny as hell, stellar cast, and highlights the contrast of "new" and "old" Vegas. It's a like a "Spinal Tap" version of a major poker tournament w/actual poker celeb's in the cast. Actors include Woody Harrelson, Ray Ramano, Gabe Kaplin, Cheryl Hines (sp), Richard Kind, and more I can't remember.
It's really cool if you have a sense of humor and don't take poker that seriously. Enjoy.
