It sounds like you need to focus more on your position, the play styles of the other players, the cards that are shown on the table, and the number of players still holding the hand or who have not yet taken a turn.

Everyone has terrible beats because it's a natural element of the game. Tighten up your play, and if you only play the profitable hands aggressively, you should succeed.

On the one hand, I agree, in what can deconcentrate you and cause you to lose the pace of the game, but playing aggressively your strong hands is not always good because if you only play those hands no one will match you, they will retire, you steal blindly but you don't increase your stack enough to reach a winning position.

"if you only play the profitable hands aggressively, you should succeed"
.... absolutely baseless statement.

That advice assumes you play to loose to start with. Some people play too tight. Just need to play a sensible range from each position, I.e. per preflop charts broadly, depending on opponents and often you get 3bet

Many people in poker do not follow simple truths - that's why they lose) Although sometimes they understand that they are doing stupid things

Yes, to be a LAG player you must have strong nerves and hundreds of buy-ins to back up your swings.
While being TAG is much easier, we don’t need too much buy-ins, we create a respectable image in the table, we reduce rake and variance and many other benefits.
If you play only 15% at maximum of any given position, you will be doing fine. For example, 5% from UTG, 8% from MP, 11% from CO and 15% from BU.
SB and BB we must be creative for we must defend our blinds quite often, we we cannot be too much tight nor loose.

Wouldn't that be too tight in general? This means a VPIP of roughly 11-13%, I thought 15-20% should be the bandwidth to aim for. Although an adjustment might make sense in a very high rake environment

Early on in a Game I like to fold regularly, playing only premium hands, because this gives the impression that you are a tight player and you get a little respect from other players who identify you in that way, This then can give you an advantage later on in the game that they believe they are up against a monster hand when you come out Raising and re-raising with absolute garbage, but all you are actually doing is trying to play from a great position and steal blinds.
Poker is so much more than a game of cards, It is a battle of minds!
