I hate straddling from early position.

But if the game will allow me to straddle from the button - I do it every time!

I know I'm doing it correctly when the table complains about it....music to my ears !

Sometimes you can see the "worry" in a player's face as they limp into the pot with a button straddle.

And so I almost always raise the button in this situation and then cbet big when the flop is checked to me.

I have also heard of games where you can straddle from any position.

I think this is called a Mississippi Straddle.

If the game allows it - do you straddle?

Straddling also reduces the size of the stacks relative to the blinds, which is beneficial to players who prefer to play with shorter stacks. In cash games, stacks tend to grow quickly, and before you know it, most of the table is sitting over 200bb deep. However, if you straddle, you reduce the stack depth because the straddle is considered the new big blind. For example, if you are playing $1/$2 with a $400 stack, you will have 200bb, but if someone straddles to $4, your stack will be 100bb.
