Sometimes. It depends on the situation and of course my hand. We can actually learn a lot from solvers here, since they use overbetting far more often than the average human player. Of course we are supposed to also have bluffs, if we want to be balanced. But if the opponent is some kind of microstakes donk, and we think, they will call far to much, then its fine to only overbet for value.

Yeah, normally i check raise , but off position i dont know
So you check raise the nuts mostly but IP don't know when to over bet pot? So it helps to over bet pot for value when there are draws that missed that you could have been betting.

For the overbet to work against a thinking player, I think you have to have shown that you do bluff and based on board texture or previous action he would also have to have a piece of the board or if he hasn't connected, he has to have a medium to high PP. Also, a situation where it is difficult to have the nuts (let's say there are three 7s on the board and you have 87), and your story doesnt make sense. (E.g., looks like a missed draw looking to steal the pot on the river)

I find that it tends to work best against passive players who try to bluff catch too much.

This is a good technique against players who cannot fold top pair with a weak kicker or a game that is not very strong.

It doesn't matter when you make a bet, the game will decide everything for you and it doesn't matter who the favorite is.

For example, you can make a check on one of the betting streets when there is a flush draw on the board. If the flush closes on the river, you should have a stronger hand on the overbet. Thus, the opponent will not understand when he was actually left behind.

It is harder to pay a bet on a dangerous texture than on a dry texture. Therefore V does not need to overvet to cause problems on wet rivers. Overplaying on coordinated boards can be a sign that V wants to polarize his range, which becomes less credible when his foreplay tendencies are TAG.

Overbets are a very powerful and effective weapon in modern poker, although for some reason many players still do not use them in their game.Overbets have always been considered an unconventional move in the game, although, in fact, the very concept of "conventional" in poker is rather dubious. In poker, you need to think in terms of efficiency, optimality, and maximizing EV.Very often in poker, players will roll their barrels without even thinking about what they want to achieve with them. And obviously, that's wrong.Mindless overbetting is tilt, but overbetting with a clear understanding of goals is a powerful tactical weapon.
