Ok so I buy into a low rent .$20/.$40 cent game, buy in is $6.40 to over $40. Ask any old CCR I'm cheap so I'm only in at the minimum buy in. No cards the first buy in - blinds are it away. An hour or so in my second buy in i very slowly made it up to the the high $70 range. I'm playing very tight against a bunch of drinks that historically suck out way too often.

In last position sick of suck outs I limped in with pocket 10's. & I'm in last position. Flop is TTJ rainbow! 1st position jams just over $60 and is called by 3 people. I have them covered so I jam just a few dollars more all in and got called by the other 3 people.

On the river no one else had a pair, straight or flush draw so I've no clue why they were all in. I suspect booze and zero knowledge had everything to do with it.

I wish you all this kind of luck in the new year!

Not sure If OP really had fun though. Sounds more like he was very scared to loose another minimum buy-in and therefore started to play (or already played) not very optimal himself.

I never play on New Year's Eve, I need to rest and celebrate the New Year.

I was lucky enough to win ticket to 109$ Sunday Million Mystery Bounty of NewYear series just few minuts before midnight. Started from freeroll at 18.45 I got entry to 11$ satellite which Iof course I had to play from 21.05 my time. I played it by cutting food and preparing dishes for the New Year's table..))
And when there were 3 people left before the prizes, our Internet was cut off - network overload due to people congratulating each other on the New Year. But my stack was enough to get into the main tournament in my absence.
So this was my first New Year's gift...))

Yes, some have this self distractive behavior, and they share their stack! Good luck for you!

This type of hand is so much fun when it happens, it's so frustrating when we have a very good hand and no one calls...lol

That's funny... The buy in was less than the cost of a single drink (if I drank & went out for the holiday)..

I put my kids through school and college playing poker. Low rent poker is more about laughs at the idiocy you see then it is about serious poker strategy. The play at level is pure idiocy! Check players stats and their better average is anywhere from 6% but more often over 10% to 35% of hands dealt. No one hits 6% so obviously the higher ones just bluff way too much.

In 30 some years of playing online I promise you the cheaper the buy in is the worse play is going to happen. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a flopped set or trips busted by a call by someone with no pair no draw only to have the turn & river together make a straight or a flush. I mean a full on suck out made by calling with hole cards anyone with a brain would have tossed. I'm talking trash like someone calling an all in on a flopped pair of tens with a Q3 off suit that both the turn & river made into a 3 high flush...it happen

The only way to consistently is to fold most hands and flow with the blinds. Never go all in until you flopped the absolute nuts or when you know that over betting idiot at the table can't beat you.

Do you still think I'm afraid of a $6 buy in???lol

Yes it sounds like u were indeed scared money. Otherwise u would buy-in with more than the minimum in the first place in such a juicy game against (according to u) such bad and drunk players. Lol 6 Dollars, right? (Cost of a single drink).

U would also punish the limpers with 1010 there if not scared money.

"I'm cheap and only buy-in for the minimum" u say it urself in OP 😉 I dont know what there is more to discuss....funny indeed!

Are you still hung up on that? $6.40 won't buy a hamburger, a drink or a pack of smokes and you think I'm afraid to loose that little??? I own ranches & houses in 6 countries, I don't think $6.40 is going to break me ...

Back in the early days of CC before the US shut down online poker in the country I had serious cash accounts on the 5 largest poker sites online all starting from money won playing freerolls. CC freerolls were a big part in building my bankroll from nothing. Poker is about wit not the bankroll the player has.
