Got invited to play in a home game.
1/2 NLHE
Original buy in is $60, with rebuys anywhere from $40-$100
I have very little experience playing poker away from the computer.
Advice?
I may be misunderstanding this but it seems like they are short-stacking.
With 1/2 Blinds you should be buying in for $200 for 100 BBs. Do you have to buy in for $60, or are you allowed to buy in for more?
If you are allowed to buy in for more, I would buy in for $200.
Not that "I" would be able to afford anything close to this at all lol, just a hypothetical.

You should clean up if none of them play online seriously.

Been wondering one more thing, how should my bet sizing be in different situations?
Smaller bets to keep in worse hands or get aggressive to keep them out?
When I make my hand whats my sizing in relationship to the pot?
I am better at FR but understand the changes that need to be mad at 6 max. I think its two tables of 8. Depending on how many show up.

Ask if they are going to rake the pots. If they are , stay away.
Your kidding right. The two home games i play at they rake. Im fine with this it is a 1/2 game and come in for 5. Both guys have NFL sunday ticket and we watch the games as well and MLB ticket. On top of that we get ribs wings something good to eat and anything to drink we want. I dont mean just grandpas stuff lol but redbulls, soda, water lol. The rake always caps at 5 bucks a pot and i have made friends with one of them and if his dealer cant make it i deal and take home 20 percent plus tips for the night. Raking is not bad in a home game your host is trying to provide a good atmosphere and make a lil coin too nothing wrong with that.
But it is ILLEGAL in many locations. Hell some places it's even illegal to even have the game without a rake.

$5 a pot...how many pots an hour and how many hours are you playing? Do the math, you'll be amazed at how much they rake. The pat answer to me was, " the only one to lose is the winner of the pot" That is how they justify it. I have also played in home games, that required a kick-in for the food. 15 guys $5 per person or even $10, but some were raking "up to $5" a pot and raking $1000 to $1200 per 8 or 9 hours....That is ridiculous. Then, then game I used to go to....well lets just say that the guy running it wasn't all that legit, the reason I stopped going. Well, one night four guys come in with semi automatics, get everyone on the ground and steal everything, from everyone. This is after I stopped going, so I cant say I saw it coming, but after it happened, I wasn't surprised. So, No I'm not kidding.Your kidding right. The two home games i play at they rake.
