Hi guys! Tonight I was playing 1/2 $ table and I had a 600 $ stack. I was in the SB with pocket nines (nine of clubs). Botton raises to 12 $, I call and BB reraise to 35 $. Botton calls and I call. Flop comes J, 8, 4 of clubs. Knowing that both players are really aggressive I check, Bb checks after me and button raises to 35 $. I felt weak on this board and I folded knowing that they both like to reraise each other or overbetting the pot going all in at the turn or river putting me in a tough spot. Anyway BB calls 35 $. Turn comes another club and button raises. BB fold and button takes down the pot. He showed a pure bluff. So I am questioning myself. Was it a really bad fold? Would you have played the end in a different way? Thanks for your answer.

It was a good fold.

If they really play like maniacs all the time you can wait for a better spot. Especially multiway.

I would like to at least have a top pair or a ace high flush draw if I continue on this flop no matter how loose-aggressive my opponents are.

If it was HU it's more close, especially if they bluff a lot. Because you should defend pretty light against maniacs and or loose/aggressive players.

3bet or fold pre from SB especially against such a big raise.

As played I think it's fine to fold flop with the BB still to act behind you.

There are two strategies regarding maniacs 1- make a strong hand take all their chips -fold the rest of your range
2- make a hand and hold on when they over bluff spots too frequently.

This hand falls in both those strategies -it is not a strong hand based on all possible hands so you can fold but it is strong enough to improve on the turn vs most of the BTN's range so you could call. However if you did call you would have to go with the hand when you make the flush- so if you do not want to have that much variance in your day to day game folding is fine. Just ignore the outcome as you folded because you knew a big bet was coming with nuts and bluffs and you knew your strategy would be to fold turn anyway.:geek:

As others have said, you could also 3-bet here, but I definitely like calling better than folding. As played you have to call the 3-bet getting such a good price.

Flop
Its fine to fold here multiway especially in a 3-bet pot. Its very easy to not have either the best made hand or the best draw, and you will never know, where you are in this hand, unless you make a runner-runner boat or something. Dont be results oriented and regret, just because the guy was bluffing.
