Effective stacks hero £124
Villian £158

Folds to Villian on the button who opens to £2.50 SB folds hero in BB who defends with 10s 9s

Pot £5.50

Flop comes 4s Qh Jc

Hero checks Villian bets £2.90 hero calls

Pot £11.30
Turn 8h
Hero decides to lead here for £7.40 I didn't want it to check through and miss any value. I considered attempting X raise but donked Villian calls.

Pot £26.10
River Js

Hero decides to check and evaluate
Villian bets £22
Hero calls

Villian has JdQd

Villian had been pretty straightforward from what I had seen betting when he had value and checking without.

I don't think I could of done anything differently I did think of blocking river but considered it a very tough spot getting jammed on if that happened. Can we ever get away here or are we simply too high up in range to fold once I've shown some weakness on river. Do we feel the donk on turn correct?

Where is this hand played, is this a UK only site as its in £s?

You say you couldnt do anything different but i think every street could be played different!

Preflop
Fine to call but also a good hand to 3bet.

Flop
If you are not x-raising your best bluff candidates do you even have any check raise bluffs!? Sure call is ok but raise is better.

Turn
Makes no sense to donk when villain also has T9o. Better to go for a x raise

River
Fun card! He shouldnt really have much Jx either so i think check is fine, though perhaps blocking is better to still get value from Qx. I dont think i would ever fold facing a bet a reasonable bet, maybe if he jams many x pot. Would rather face a 50% bet but i would still always call here as played and expect to be good often enough.

Just a cooler in the end

As played I am donk betting OTR as well. The value range of V is very narrow and with a donk bet of turn it is less likely that V will want to bluff with Jx OTR.

Sorry I didn't have a euros button on my phone but yes I'm a UK player. I didn't want to check raise oop then potentially have to follow through multiple times if I had missed. I thought if turn checks through I would be missing value if he checked behind. I often would check raise in this spot just did not on this occasion

The only question I have is the check instead of a bet on the river. If you made a small bet and was raised, the alarm bell would probably ring.
One thing I have noticed during my play, if the turn or river card improves your hand, but could also improve your opponent’s hand, maybe be more careful.

Based on your read, I would have rather lead out on the river and then heavily consider folding if raised.

If you check, this type of villain will likely just check behind so you won't get value from say AJ or AQ. If he raised you, since your read is that he likely isn't bluffing, you can find a fold. You are repping a huge hand with the turn and river bets, this type of V won't be raise bluffing you.
