Alucard's Cash Journal - 10NL to Low Stakes

Wassup mah Dewds!!!

I think it's finally time for me to move on from 5NL towards 10NL+.

5NL has been quite the ride for me, switching action between Stars & Party, playing both regular & zoom/ff tables with insane upswings as well as insane downswings, with quite a lot of eye openers for me.

The main thing I realised is how strong you have to be mentally to excel at the game. It's the key thing that holds many good players from becoming better & achieving great things.
The mental toll it takes on a player is quite tough & I did experience it specially playing 5NL zoom. There were times where I went on to lose 10+ buy ins in one session & began to question my ability with complete lack of confidence.

But at the same time it has made me a lot tougher been able to handle those swings without much emotion attached to it.

Enough with that, lets make some goals!

• Play 60k+ hands per month - Quite achievable for me & I'm targeting 90k tbh
• Try to maintain a 15-20BB/100 win rate - A bit optimistic but We'll see how it goes
• Maintain a decent tourney schedule - Haven't been playing any tourneys for the month of April but need to make a schedule & play some
• Study more - at least 1 hour of study per 3 hours of play(Hand analysis, videos,articles,books etc)
• Read more - There are a couple of books I need to finish (Have been quite lazy on this)
• Try to get rolled for 25NL by the end of May - Again achievable if I can maintain the win rate and everything goes well. But I won't be able to move up since I need to make some withdrawls
• Learn to use flopzilla, Equilab & other tools & use them often to improve my game

I will mainly be playing at Stars 6max regular tables. Will switch to zoom from time to time if I feel like it.
I'm under rolled at party poker to play even 5NL atm so have to build a roll there once again. So will get back on it as well.

Also after 10NL, I'd have to consider whether I'd want to move some action to another site where it'd be easier to make more money. I dislike 888, & have been looking into unibet,Ultimapoker etc.

Also we have our own hangouts group where I spend most of the time reviewing & discussing hand with a bunch of likely minded regular CCers. It has been quite valuable for us & saves a lot of time than posting here & waiting for analysis etc. So I might not update the thread frequently. But I'll try to post anything interesting.

There a lot to learn & a long road ahead & I'm looking forward towards exciting times!

• I'm currently following a 40 buy in rule. - When I have 40BIs for the next level & confident of beating the current level, I'll likely move up.
• Year end goal is to be playing regular 50NL/100NL
• Learn PLO & start playing cash games

Wanted to visit the zoom pool to make some history with them. At the beginning it didn't go so well and spewed a couple of stacks with a break even sesh, but at night things took off suddenly.

night sesh - played around 700 hands with around a 75BB/100 win rate


Pretty sure I had the biggest stack in the pool at the time

Tmrw will probably go back to regular tables.

Around 10 BI's up in 2 days. Around 4k hands played

Glad to see your hard work paying off and see you moving up. And right on about the mental/emotion aspect. Poker is a rough game and you can easily have doubt creeping in when you feel like you're losing hand after hand when playing them correctly!

Update

Not the greatest couple of days at the tables. But still I'm winning decent enough. The last couple of sesh's have been swingy with me idiotically punting away some stacks. Not the greatest plays of course & I'm a bit ashamed of losing discipline. which has led my previous breakeven red line to go on a minus streak.


But still doing good with a win rate of 17BB/100 total. 12k hands played
20BIs up in 6days.


Got 2nd place in the Party freeroll. Played a decent amount of tourneys with that but couldn't cash any. Still have around $27 left. So might play very soon.


Playing the SCOOP of course. Setting up a decent schedule so might lower the cash volume down a bit & focus on tourneys for the upcoming days.
Main thing is to not play much & get myself burned out. Balance is everything.

Well it's still poker... you'll get through it as always! How long have you been playing? Almost a year now? The overall progress you've made is still really impressive.

i totally understand your situation when cards arent coming your way. Be patient and use bankroll management. Dont chase losses and try to give it your best shot.

Well you know how it goes. Everything seems smooth sailing until you get KOed out of nowhere.
As it has been with my updates. The downswing hit me pretty hard almost losing all of my prfoits at 10NL but then I managed to get back on track and doing decent now.


But not at all impressive & I'm not satisfied with my workload. Apparently I've been playing so little.
The winrate has gone to shit after the downswing & hasn't been covered other goals I've made as well.
Still there are 10 days left this month & enough time to turn it all around.


Of course the other freakin thing I hate is living in this goddamn country. I mean how the **** are you gonna play decent seshs when there is a power cut every freakin 30 mins??!!!


It has been heavy rains these days but even if it hasn't been, our shitty governemnt cannot provide a regular current supply.
And on Saturday, it was from 2PM till 6PM!!! How am I supposed to play like that?
And my UPS battery is dead atm so everytime it damages my PC. I've lost a shit ton of notes just because of this


Last 2 days have been focusing a lot on tourneys. But without much luck. Cashed one $16.50 PKO without bounties while busted around 4 tourneys including the $109 main without cashing.


This might seem like rant but tbh I feel very good after writing this & want to crush the games for good.


Also have been trying to add balance to my life. It's a working progress.


have been reading some 2+2 PGCs and it's quite amazing how some of those stories look very similar to mine & how some are just crushing the games. Want to get to that position asap and to do that I should put a ton of more effort & work my ass off.
