The 2022 Main Event champ reveals his World Series of Poker take, a woman robbed after leaving an Iowa casino, and a poker superstar’s birthday are just some of the short stacks CardsChat picked up in last week’s orbit of poker news.
WSOP Main Event Champ Espen Jorstad released his results for his summer in Vegas.
He revealed he had 56% of his own action in the Main Event, swapping 44% with 14 other players. One lucky friend had 7.5% of the Norwegian in Main Event, which paid $10 million for first.
Espen, with partner Patrick Leonard, also won the tag-team event for $75K.
He made money in four events this summer, including the Main Event, and says he was up nearly $30K before the Main. He didn’t include his online results, but says he’s up over $10K.

Add $5.6 million thanks to the Main Event victory, and that changes everything for the poker streamer.
In 16 events, Espen fired 26 bullets, the most coming in the $2,200 Mystery Bounty event at the Wynn where he shipped five buy-ins. He failed to cash.
Several other players, including Daniel Negreanu and Scott Ball, have been transparent with their buy-ins and results this Series. Negreanu, who was dragged across the coals after a meltdown in the $250K high-roller event, didn’t have a good Series.
He lost more than $1 million.
Woman robbed after leaving Iowa casino
A woman who hit two slots jackpots in an Iowa casino was robbed in a dramatic way as she was driving home.
According to a report on the local CBS affiliate, the unidentified woman who binked two jackpots worth about $10K total last Tuesday, was run off the road by two cars after leaving Prairie Meadows Casino in Des Moines.
Police say Timothy Spencer then got out of one of the cars, shattered the driver’s side window with a handgun, and snatched the woman’s purse with the prize money inside. The robbery victim wasn’t physically hurt and was able to give police a good description. The criminal complaint says police traced Spencer to the crime through casino surveillance, which shows him watching the victim win, following her around the casino, and leaving when she did at around 3 a.m.
Police are still looking for the other suspects.
Spencer was charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree theft, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit a forcible felony, and possession of a controlled substance. Spencer denies his involvement.
Doyle Brunson says no more autographs
Texas Dolly took a look at eBay last week and didn’t like what he saw.

There are nearly 450 Brunson items listed on eBay, mostly “Super System” books and autographs of everything from playing cards and poker chips to glossy photos. They range from 75 cents to hundreds of dollars.
So, if you’re one of the lucky people who snagged a Texas Dolly autograph over the years, hang on to it, because he’s not signing anymore. But then again, there’s always eBay.
New cash game show on PokerGO
Jeff Platt and Brent Hanks have turned their podcast, “No Gamble, No Future,” into a show on PokerGo.
Premiering Aug. 1, “No Gamble, No Future” will feature the current line-up of poker stars and wannabes playing cash games. Platt, a WSOP announcer, and Hanks, PokerGO’s director of programming, are the hosts.
The first episode is a $200-400 game with a $100K minimum buy-in. Some of the players who will appear in at least one of the show’s 13 episodes include Maria Ho, Rob “Boston Rob” Mariano, Nick Schulman, Eric Persson, Patrik Antonius, Lynne Ji, Jimmy D’Ambrosio, and Matt Berkey.
The show will air on the subscription-based channel on Mondays and Thursdays through November.
Happy birthday Daniel!
Today is Daniel Negreanu’s birthday. The man who’s still known as “Kid Poker” is 48.
Negreanu started playing poker and hustling snooker when he was 15 years old. He moved to Vegas at the age of 22 to try and make it as a pro, but failed before moving back home to Toronto to rebuild his bankroll. Two years later, he won his first of six WSOP bracelets, starting his journey to becoming one of the most recognized and successful poker players of any era. He was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 2014.
He has more than $21 million in WSOP winnings.
That buys a lot of vegan cake and ice cream.
