What was the loud thundering noise coming from the Rio around 1:25 am last night? It was 1,000 poker players cheering as one of their own became the dreaded Bubble Boy of the Main Event.
It took a week, but Main Event players went into the money last night when Kevin Campbell’s pocket aces lost to A9. A nine fell on the flop and another nine on the river ignited the crowd. WSOP Circuit Ring winner Paul Mattioda was at the table and recorded the chaos for Twitter.
Guys… holy shit… the money bubble just burst in the wsop main event in the grossest fashion at my table.

Campbell received an entry into next year’s Main Event courtesy of the WSOP.
Moneymaker moving up, running good
The pokerverse is buzzing at the thought of 2003 Champion Chris Moneymaker making a deep run this year. He was one of seven former champs to make it to Day 2.. Jerry Yang (2007), Phil Hellmuth (1989), Scott Blumstein (2017), and Joe Hachem (2005) all busted Thursday. Qui Nguyen (2016) and Martin Jacobson (2014) are still alive — but they go into Day 4 with only about 30 big blinds each.
Moneymaker, on the other hand, is running, as they say, very, very good. He’s near the top of the chip count with 1.7 million early in Day 4.
Among the notable players over the million-chip mark include Stephen Chidwick (1.58 million), Daniel Lowery (1.3 million), Chance Kornuth (1.2 million), David Williams (1.175 million) and Jason Koon with just over 1 million.
