The US Poker Open, a PokerGO staple event, is back for 2021 and its schedule includes 12 high-roller tournaments in Las Vegas next month. Play begins at the PokerGO Studio on the Las Vegas Strip on June 3, and the series concludes with the $50,000 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event on June 14.
The US Poker Open first ran in 2018, just months after the opening of PokerGO’s studio, which sits outside the Aria Resort and Casino. It has since become one of the highlights on the high-roller poker tournament circuit, along with the Poker Masters, Super High Roller Bowl, and the World Series of Poker high-roller bracelet events.
Each year, the US Poker Open crowns a champion, which is based on points accumulated over the course of the series. In 2018, Stephen Chidwick took down the crown, one of his many poker accomplishments. Chidwick won two events during the series and cashed for more than $1.2 million. The following year, David Peters took the title by winning the Main Event, a $100,000 buy-in tournament, which propelled him to the victory over Sean Winter, who finished in the top five in four events.
What’s on the 2021 US Poker Open schedule?
During its first two years, the US Poker Open was held in the winter. Last year, like most poker events, the high-roller series was canceled due to COVID-19. COVID-19 restrictions were still a major issue early this year, so the series is taking place in June instead.
This year’s schedule includes 12 events with buy-ins ranging from $10,000 to $50,000, starting with the $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em tournament on June 3. Final tables for the 2021 US Poker Open, like in years past, will stream live on the PokerGO app.
There will be five different poker games played during the 12-day series: No-Limit Hold’em (June 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 14), Pot-Limit Omaha (June 4 and June 10), big bet mix (June 6), eight-game mix (June 8), and short deck (June 10). The buy-in for the first 10 events (June 4-12) is $10,000. On June 13, the tournament (No-Limit Hold’em) costs $25,000, and then the series wraps up the next day with the $50,000 Main Event.
