GGPoker, quickly becoming one of the top poker sites in the world, is at it again with another massive online poker series on the horizon. The site Daniel Negreanu now promotes released the schedule for a $100 million guaranteed WSOP Circuit Series in which 20 rings will be awarded, some to cash game players for the first time.

The growing online poker site also announced on Monday that it will host a WSOP Online Bracelet Series for the second straight summer. Details for the series aren’t available yet and are expected in the coming weeks. But we know the series will begin Aug. 1 and run through Sep. 12.

GGPoker is quickly becoming the top spot for online poker tournaments. The poker site is currently wrapping up a $150 million guaranteed Spring Poker Festival, and will soon host a pair of World Series of Poker and WSOP Circuit events. Hiring Negreanu, Fedor Holz and other high-profile poker pros to promote the site is beginning to pay off.

Watering Down the WSOP?

The WSOP Super Circuit Series on GGPoker begins May 1 and runs until May 30. During that series, $100 million and 20 Circuit rings will be awarded. And some poker players argue the continued expansion of the WSOP is harming the World Series of Poker brand.

The series begins with the $100 Super Circuit Kickoff, a $1 million guaranteed tournament. It concludes with the $525 Main Event, which guarantees at least $5 million will be paid out to those who cash. The winner of the Main Event will also receive a $50,000 GGPoker sponsorship deal and become a member of the site’s “Team Champions” group.

During the series, a pot-limit Omaha and no-limit hold’em cash game player will earn a Circuit ring, the first time one has been awarded in cash games. Numerous poker players have criticized this new concept.

“As a cash game player, I think this is really f—–g stupid,” Danielle Andersen wrote on Twitter.

“I agree. The idea in itself is extremely weird, but the execution is even worse: if I understand their extremely poorly written explanation, the leaderboard winners are going to be players with the highest winrate (bb/100), but only winning sessions are counted. Uhm wtf?” Twitter user @apo555tol wrote in response to Andersen’s comment.

Darryl Robinson (@CantFindFold) argues that the WSOP is “ruining their own brand and that’s literally only reason why people were playing their tournaments in the first place.”
