Tournament season is always underway in the poker world. Whether it is full-fledged poker tours that hop around locations or a week-long spectacle, there’s plenty of entertainment and money to be had. The deluge of online poker websites has also given players a competitive edge.
But when it comes to tournaments, not every player has the ability or money to get to a qualifying event. Luckily, many of those online poker websites also have their fair share of online promotions and qualifying events to ensure everyone has a chance to get in on the action. To promote their recent Spring Poker Open and the New Jersey Championship of Online Poker, Borgata is making the push for several satellite events.
Spring is in the Air
The 2014 Borgata Spring Poker Open is currently underway. For the first time, the World Poker Tour World Championship will also be featured. After starting on April 8, the Spring Poker Open continues until April 26 with a number of rewarding events.
On April 14, the Spring Open’s championship event commenced. Running until April 19, the event is a $1 million guaranteed No Limit Hold’em tournament with a $2,500 + $200 buy-in. The championship’s opening flights started on April 14 and 15 at 11am.
Qualifying Satellites
A series of satellites have been offered to give players a chance to win buy-ins for events at a fraction of the cost of what they would normally pay. A satellite event was held on April 9 which guaranteed a seat at the April 1 Event 2. Two winners could earn a $50 buy-in instead of the normal $400 amount. On April 14, players were able to have their shot at saving $2,500 on the main championship’s buy-in. Player bj_WilliamJLH won the $200 buy-in satellite on April 11 and reserved his spot for a potential big payoff.
Starting on April 14, BorgataPoker.com also held a three-seat guarantee satellite to Event 9. That satellite had a $20 buy-in as opposed to the $300 buy-in on the day of the event. Event 9 is a $100,000 guaranteed event that just got underway on Wednesday, April 16.
For the final satellite, BorgataPoker.com hosted an event on April 17 that scored seats for Event 12. For a $20 buy-in, three spots were guaranteed. Otherwise, players can enter the tournament for $400 on April 19. The tournament will conclude on April 26.
Big Money for NJCOP
Even with the frequent action of the Borgata Spring Poker Open, there are more opportunities for players to win big. BorgataPoker.com is also playing host to the New Jersey Championship of Online Poker. Nine days of poker action are separated across 15 events taking place from April 19 through April 27. A total of $600,000 in winnings is spread across the championship series.
The tournament kicks off on Saturday, April 19 on BorgataPoker.com with a $50,000 freeroll at 4pm. On April 27 the $200,000 Main Event takes place where first place Main Event is guaranteed $50,000 in winnings. The rest of the New Jersey Championship of Online Poker will have freezeouts, bounties, No Limit Hold’em and more. As a bonus, on April 24, players get to decide what type of tournament they will be playing for a guaranteed $20,000 payout.
