In my previous run at poker I plate 25NL and did well.

I just started playing cash games again and tried to start at 5NL (1c/2c).

My numbers were like a falling rock. (over 2000 hands)

I moved over to 10 max(5c/10c) and the graph reversed immediately.

My question is, does anyone have any experience with trying to be a winning player at 1c/2c? Do you think it is beatable? If yes, what do YOU do.:confused:

2,000 hands is certainly not enough of a sample to determine winrate. Scratch the loss up to either variance or overconfidence.

1c/2c, which is 2NL (not 5NL) is deffo beatable, even on PS :)

I'm struggling to believe that someone who can beat 25NL regards 2000 hands as a significant enough sample size and refers to 1c/2c as 5NL. Also you say you turned it round immediantly, that also suggests you had an insignificant amount of hands played at the higher limit.

I call bullshit.

Maybe he didn't know how to coin the term, lol. I had to read Poker Math that Matters before I grasped what it was too. Inviligator, 5NL would be something like 0.02/0.05, it's basically just 100x bb.
And I agree with BlueNowhere, that I find it pretty hard to believe that you're crushing 25nl if you don't even know what the term is bro...

unbeatable imo. Too hard to beat the fish, they never fold! Move up to the higher stakes where they respect your raises and there's actually some people who want to play POKER

In his defense 1c/2c on PS plays deepstacked so that is probably his confusion on calling it 5nl.

That having been said its the classic mistake so many people make, "I'm too smart to beat these dummies that call with everything. I need to move up to where they respect my raises.":rolleyes:

If you want an extreme example of someone crushing 2NL check out Blackrain79's PTR or shoot him a message here, He posts in a lot of threads.

Like WVH said value bet like its your job. If the fish starts firing back on the turn guess what happened. Hint, they aren't bluffing.

AA gonna get cracked way too often in the lowest limits.
it's defo out of the realm of possibility to expect to be able to beat tables that are largely filled with uber-nits, HUGE FISH, & ManiacSpewtards.

I too suggest one should 'move up to where they respect your raises'

The hand sample at the higher limit was definitely insignificant. I won't argue that. I was just so struck by the unpredictable nature of the play at 1c/2c that I wondered about other peoples experience.

I am not discounting variance, not even bad play on my part. I was just looking to hear what others have seen at that limit.

Thanks. I do know the difference but it did say it wrong. 1c/2c on Stars has a $5.00 max buy in. Just messed up the term.

Yes i'm the same, i have a 50bb an hour difference between 2nl and 20nl. 10nl is just as bad, get reraised allin with 97o and hit just stupid imo.

Lol. I put myself the same stupid question a year ago after a year started playing poker. I found out that the problem were not the stackes but me.

Pocket aces don't always win in a HU pot either, I expect a 25NL player to be able to bear 2NL, if you can't your a poor player in that you can't make the correct adjustments. It's amazing the amount of solid 25NL players that also claim 2NL is harder to beat.

I never said I cannot bear it, I just don't think it is worth playing most people play upwards of 80% of hands and call anything preflop. How are you supposed to win?

You obviously can't beat 25NL if you struggle to adjust to horrible players. I seriously doubt I'm having a conversation with how to beat people that call anything with a 25NL player.

I do find it hard to adjust to bad play in low stakes thats why I don't play it and obviously alot of others think the same. You dont know me, why would I care if u knew I was a decent 20NL player? and instead of calling everyone a liar why not give him some tips?
