What is a good percentage for flops seen in a cash game and what is a good percentage of flops seen in a MTT or a single table SNG.

With all of these i usually end up seeing around 15 to 20 percent of flops.

what percent do you all see?

While that is the right answer I try to see around 20%. I can still be doing good at 10% and 30% but I stay around 20%

I try to stay around 20-22% in cash games and SnGs and when it comes to MTTs I would have to say it all depends on the cards, the lowest Ive had is around 18% b/c of a bad run of cards.

Also depends on ## of players

Most people will 'check' in on their big blind regardless of the hand if it is not expensive.....This counts toward the flop percentage......

Not considering BB and SB, my percentage is about 10 -15 %......

that's why you get PT and track your VP$IP instead.

I got to think that anything over 40% is too much, and anything under 15% is too little.

Almost automatically you are gonna see 10% because of the blinds.

But then there are those session where 60% is fine, the cards are flowing like wine, the women are singing and everyone is naked..... Oh, not omaha, strip!....oops!

Depends depends depends.....

If you've got a table that isn't playing anything but AA/KK/AK, then %40 would be way too low, and vise versa etc.

Completely dependent on your table.

oh so many factors to consider

In a nutshell though, for me it depends mainly on stakes.

At higher stakes ring games, I play really tight and see less than 20% of the flops more like 15%. In low stakes, I play looser and see about 30% of hands, unless I am playing micro tables - and since those dudes call anything, I stick to premium cards again.

In tournies while blinds are low I will see more flops (30%ish) and tighten up as blinds increase providing my stack keeps pace - if ya short stacked ya gotta take more risks.

Table conditions and cards determine my percentage. On average looking at my stats im usually 20-25%.

Last night i was about 40% as one guy was going all in on the flop regardless of what he had after flat calling preflop - he was on serious tilit so i wanted to see many flops hoping to double up if i hit hard.

Anyone care to give a stat on vp$ip over say, 10k+ hands (ring/cash game)?

What to you consider the line to be between TAG and LAG?

It depends what I'm playing. ~ 20-25% if I'm playing a full (10) table. But I play a lot of shorthanded (6) SNGs as well. I see a lot more flops on those :)

I only play shorthanded, so keep that in mind.

I'm 23/14 in NL, and 26/18 for limit. I've played a decent amount of hands HU at limit as well, so the numbers are skewed up a bit from that.

I consider a VP$IP below 20% to be tight in a 6-max limit game. I consider a VP$IP over 30% to be loose. The sweetspot is somewhere in the middle, but table conditions and postflop skills affect the more precise location.

6max or FR? Also, flops seen isn't a very good tool because even checks from the BB is counted in that(~16% would be your flops seen if you only saw the flop from your BB), a better indicator would be VPIP, which actually tells when you're putting money in the pot voluntarily, not forced like the blinds.

I dont like that stat, every hand you get is random.

Yes, but when you get enough of a sample size, you should only be playing a certain range(equaling out to a percentage) of hands. This is where VPIP, PFR, 3B%, etc, etc, etc. All of the statistical numbers that we ask for in the analysis sections of the forums come from. Even %FlopsSeen tells us something over the course of a big enough sample, it just doesn't break it down as well as other stats.

Flops seen is a site stat, and not a tracker stat. VPIP (typical tracker version) does not include a checked BB in the VPIP calc. So typically, a VPIP will be lower than a Flops Seen stat.

The game and site are important for us to give you a correct answer. If you are playing Stud at Merge, it is nearly impossible to not show 100% flops seen. If mixed games, there is no sane answer.

6max or Full ring is also pertinent info for a correct answer.

For example, at a 6 max game with 6 dead people, you would expect each player to win 14.67% of the hands. 9 dead people at the full ring table would move that number to 11.11% win percentage for each dead player.

Your job, as a poker player is to win more than your share of the pots.

I'd say dollars, rather than pots.

I did some mass-tabling at $2 and $5 tables last weekend for the 100,000,000 hand at Stars and saw a lot of players at these levels trying to win lots of pots, over pot shoving with anything from the nuts to nothing.

VPIP is a much better number. Because if you raise and fold to a 3bet or check into a free flop, that just isn't the same.

That said, you should be playing 15-25% of pots in a low stakes FR table in the long run typically.
